A day in the life of… Amanda Lambert, our Clinical Lead

Date 22 April 2026

As we continue our ‘day in the life’ features, our Clinical Lead, Amanda Lambert, has given us an insight into her varied role.

Amanda is a Registered Nurse with 30 years of post-registration experience. She also worked as a Clinical Services Manager in private healthcare and as a Senior Sister for 10 years within Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH).

With experience in head and neck, ear, nose and throat (ENT), breast surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, urology, haematology research, breast services and medicine, Amanda is an excellent addition to our team and brings a wealth of knowledge.

Let’s hear more from Amanda…

“As clinical lead, I oversee the delivery of safe, high-quality and person-led care for individuals with complex and often long-term health needs.

In essence, I’m the nursing presence within the business.

I play a critical role that combines advanced clinical oversight, leadership and service coordination to improve clinical outcomes for service users and maintain service quality.

Developing and reviewing care plans is part of my role, ensuring they are personalised and evidence-based, and I’m able to identify and manage clinical risks, so services are safe and well-coordinated.

I act as an advocate and key point of contact for service users, families and external professionals, maintaining continuity and consistency of care.

Developing our staff through face-to-face complex care training promotes best practice and ensures compliance with fundamental standards set by our regulators, the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

I also provide external complex care training, competency assessments and clinical supervision to other private care providers.

In addition, I write and develop competency booklets and work alongside our complex care staff to ensure they are competent in the skills required to provide the right care and support to our service users.

This includes care and management of ventilators, tracheostomy care and enteral (tube) feeding.

I liaise with external clinicians, who are the clinical decision makers and part of the multi-disciplinary teams, to ensure planned care is followed and there is a smooth transition from hospital to home.

My role also includes networking to build relationships with other allied health professionals, occupational therapists, physios, dieticians and speech and language therapists.

Acting as the point of contact between them and the service user often alleviates the pressure on acute hospital settings.

Developing clinical tools and auditing care to evidence the services we provide is another key element of my role, while ensuring we’re compliant with CQC standards.

This creates a continuous cycle of learning which helps us provide care to the highest standards.

Being a Clinical Lead is such a varied job and I pride myself on going the extra mile and acting as an advocate for our service users.

It’s a very rewarding role, which I’m proud to have.”
